DILLON

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours,
Faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it
To him to be worthy of such devotion.

"Sir Dillon Pierce" came into our lives in February of 2004. Renee has always wanted a Giant Schnauzer and when they met it was true love! They are inseparable and Dillon does not like to "wait" when Renee leaves without him. She tries to take him everywhere when possible. He stays in the office and watches for the FedEx and UPS delivery men: "Oh boy...Company!" He loves toys--his are the really big ones! He seldom comes over without a toy in his mouth and invitation to play, he is a great "catcher." But he's not all play--he also loves to settle down for a nap with a huge sigh! Oh, what a life!

Originally from Tennessee, Dillon was 1.5 years old when adopted. He had been returned from a previous family for unclear reasons but is so gentle and loving, it is hard to know what happened during the first part of his young life.

He assumed the role of guard dog immediately after doing the "perimeter walk" and is very protective of us, all the girls, Nicki, and especially the Schnoodle puppies. Given his size, his gentleness with baby puppies is truly amazing. He lies down and lets the pups crawl all over him!

Dillon is a big boy; he is always the topic of conversation wherever we go, especially, PetsMart! He is the best looking, most handsome Giant Schnauzer we and most people have ever seen! He has a great coat and just shines in the North Carolina sun! Our "Sir Dillon" is a very large baby and is a part of our lives and hearts!

October 2005 Update: We just attended graduation ceremonies for Dillon (better known as Mr. D and Dill Pickle!). He was gone for three weeks to doggie basic training—it was a very long 21 days!

Dillon attended Tarheel Canine in Sanford, NC, international trainers that specialize in training dogs for law enforcement. Tarheel Canine came highly recommended to us and, after seeing their work with Dillon, we now recommend them ourselves.

Dillon's lead trainer was Janet; it's no surprise to us, but she fell in love with him! Janet kept saying how smart Dillon is and how he really wants to learn and do the right thing. That's our boy!

Many families who come to adopt Schnoodle pups want to see Dillon and say hi; now that he’s been to obedience school, he'll have better manners when they meet him (he won't "love them silly" but will be a nicely mannered big boy). We feel obedience school was a great investment in our big baby boy at 92 lbs!

Below, here's Dillon after being groomed at The Pampered Pet. Wow, what a handsome boy! Later, Dillon played with Monty, a Chihuahua mix who belongs to our awesome pet sitter, Dede. (Truly the big and little of it!!) Dillon and Monty had a blast playing together at the salon.

Below, here's Dillon on his first boat ride! He had a blast, and even jumped in the water to cool off!

Dillon is great with our Pierce Schnoodle puppies! He makes an excellent "babysitter" and friend to our pups. He's very patient--even when surrounded by these scampering little bundles of energy!
